ASHLEY SMITH
Mediator (FMC / FMA)
Ashley comes to mediation with a career spanning decades in education and facilitation. As a mediator he offers an impartial and down-to-earth approach that helps puts clients at ease, and is committed to helping people resolve their issues with compassion and fairness.
Following completion of FMC mediation training and becoming a registered family mediator, he achieved a distinction in the 2025 Family Law Microcredential from The Law Society, ensuring he is up to date with current family law practice in England & Wales.
Alongside mediation, he is a trained musician with a masters degree, and an experienced teacher and facilitator.
PETER RILEY
Associate Mediator (FMC / FMA)
Peter comes to mediation following a long career in policing, bringing extensive experience in managing conflict, navigating sensitive situations, and helping people find practical solutions during challenging times.
As a family mediator, Peter offers an impartial and approachable style that helps clients feel at ease, and is committed to helping families resolve issues with fairness, understanding and respect.
Following completion of FMC-approved mediation training, Peter became a registered family mediator, supporting separating couples, parents, and wider family members, with a flexible and personal approach tailored to the needs of each family.
AUSTIN CHESSELL
PPC (FMC / FMA / Resolution)
Austin is an experienced FMC-accredited family mediator and family Solicitor based in London, and works as a Professional Practice Consultant (PPC) for other mediators.
Austin works with mediators at Access Family Mediation on an independent basis and has his own practice, the Family Mediation Centre London.
