C100 Service - Information for Clients
C100 - Court Application Support Service
A 60-minute online appointment with an FMC-registered family mediator, a properly completed C100, and clear next steps to court.
Please read below for more information on this service
If you’re applying to the family court about arrangements for your child, the C100 is the form that opens the case. Getting it right first time saves weeks of back and forth. We sit with you online for 60 minutes and complete it together, then prepare a proof-checked pack ready for you to send to the court.
-
The C100 is the official HMCTS (HM Courts and Tribunals Service) application under Section 8 of the Children Act 1989.It asks the family court to make a decision about arrangements for a child: where the child lives, who they spend time with, specific issues such as schooling or medical decisions, or prohibited steps such as preventing the removal of a child from the country. It can also be used to vary or discharge an existing order.
-
Errors on the C100 are the single biggest reason applications get delayed or returned.Patterns we see repeatedly:
The mediator certificate at Section 4 is missing or incomplete, so the application is returned
Safeguarding questions on page 4 are answered yes but the C1A supplemental form is not attached
The application is sent to the wrong court, because the applicant used their own postcode instead of the child’s
Section 5 is written in emotional language that does not help the court understand what is being asked for
-
Our C100 support is a focused, fixed-fee package. Everything you need to submit with confidence:A 60-minute online appointment with a registered family mediator
A properly completed C100 returned to you as a PDF
A completed C1A supplemental safeguarding form at no extra cost, where any page-4 question triggers it
A cover letter template for your email to the court
A clear submission guide showing exactly where and how to send it
Fee guidance, including Help with Fees (EX160)
-
What we offer:An FMC-registered Mediator who knows the C100 inside out
A calm, structured 60 minutes to complete the form with you
A proof-checked pack: admin reviews the pack before you receive it
Plain-English explanations of what each section is asking for
Signposting to further support if your case needs more than the form
What we do not offer:
Legal advice: we never tell you what the court will decide or what you should ask for
Free follow-up calls: once the pack is with you, our part of the work is done. Further support is available at our standard hourly rate
Submission to the court on your behalf: you send the pack to the court yourself (we tell you exactly how)
We never give legal advice. We help you complete the form correctly and explain what the court is asking for. Deciding what orders to seek and how the court is likely to respond is legal advice, and that is a solicitor’s job.
-
This service is a good fit for you if:You want the court to decide arrangements for your child
Mediation is unsuitable/unwanted
You want to ask for a specific issue or prohibited steps order
You want to vary or discharge an existing order
You have attended a MIAM (we can provide this too)
You are a litigant in person (without a solicitor)
-
Some situations need a solicitor from day one. We will tell you honestly if your case is one of them. That includes:
Urgent or without-notice applications (injunctions, immediate removal risk)
Cases with an international element (child out of jurisdiction, Hague Convention)
Serious safeguarding concerns that may need expert representation
Complex or contested fact-finding hearings already scheduled
We can suggest or recommend solicitors or legal advice, if required.
-

Step 3. Admin proofs the pack. We do not send the pack straight from the appointment. Our admin team proofs everything and emails you a final pack within 2 working days.
Step 4. You send it to the court. Using the submission guide we include, you send the pack to the court via MyHMCTS online, email, or post.

Can I do this myself?
Yes, you can. Some people feel confident completing the form. Others choose this service because getting it right first time avoids weeks of back and forth with the court and because the Section 4 mediator certificate is often the hardest bit to get right. Is the C1A really included?
Yes. If your answers to the safeguarding questions on page 4 of the C100 mean a C1A is required, we complete it with you in the same 60-minute appointment, at no extra charge. What if there has been domestic abuse?
The MIAM requirement has exemptions, including where there is evidence of domestic abuse. We check whether an exemption applies and help you record it correctly on the form. We also flag any situation where you may need a solicitor or specialist support alongside the C100.Do I pay the court fee on the day?
No. The court fee is paid separately to HMCTS when your application is submitted. You can apply for Help with Fees (EX160) if you are on a low income, pay online if you submit via MyHMCTS, or the court will contact you to take payment by card if you submit by email or post.
